2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 cup butter, softened
3/4 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1 tsp. vanilla extract
2 eggs
2 cups (12-oz. package) NESTLE semi-sweet chocolate chips

Directions:

Beat butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar and vanilla in large mixer bowl. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each. Mix in with spatula the flour, baking soda and salt. Drop by rounded tablespoon onto a greased cookie sheet.

Bake in preheated 350º oven for 9 to 11 minutes until golden brown. Let stand for 2 minutes. Remove to wire rack or brown paper to let cool.

A recipe I think I can make with my eyes closed at this point. This recipe is a classic and it is always a favorite. Always use real butter and pure vanilla extract (I use McCormicks). You can substitute chocolate chips and put:
* half peanut butter, half chocolate chips
* macadamia nuts and white chocolate
* crumbled peanut butter cups
* mint chocolate chips
* toffee chips or chunks
