2 cups all purpose flour
1 t. baking powder
1 t. baking soda
2 t. cinnamon
1/4 t. salt
1 c. granulated sugar
1 c. brown sugar
2/3 c. butter or margarine, softened
2 eggs
1 c. buttermilk ( or sour milk)
1 c. chopped, peeled apples
1/2 c. chopped pecans or walnuts

Directions:

Mix flour, baking powder, soda, salt and 1 t. cinnamon, in a bowl and set aside. In another bowl, cream granulated sugar, 1/2 cup brown sugar and softened butter. Mix in eggs, buttermilk and flour mixture. Fold in apples. Pour into a 9x13 inch greased baking dish. For topping, combine remaining 1/2 cup brown sugar, walnuts and 1 t. cinnamon and sprinkle over matter. Cover with foil and put in refrigerator until next morning. Uncovered, let stand about 30 minutes. Bake 45 minutes in a 350º oven.
