2/3 c. sifted flour
3 T. sugar
½ t. salt
¼ t. soda
2 c. Quaker old-fashioned oats
1/2 c. shortening

Directions:

Mix together:
2/3 c. sifted flour
3 T. sugar
½ t. salt
¼ t. soda
2 c. Quaker old-fashioned oats
Cut in:
½ c. shortening
Till mixture is coarse crumbs. Add:
2-3 T. cold water
A tablespoon at a time, until dough will hold together when pinched, but is not sticky. Press onto a greased cookie sheet to form roughly a 10x10 inch square. Bake in a 425 degree oven 12-15 minutes until edges are browned and you can smell the oats toasting. Break off pieces to spread with jam.
