Frosting: 1/2 Stick Unsalted Butter, room temperature 1 8 oz. Cream Cheese 6 Cups Confectioners' Sugar 3 TBLS. Orange Juice 1/2 Orange Zest

Directions:Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Prepare to 8-9 inch cake pans
In a large bowl add the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Mix together. Using a hand mixer, add the oil, sour cream, eggs, juice and zest. Mix just till combined.
Divide the batter between two pans. Bake for 25 minutes or until tester comes out clean. Cool completely.
Frosting: Mix butter, cream cheese and sugar in mix till creamy, add juice and zest, mix well.
Spread a thin coat, known as a crumb coat on your cake, let dry to the touch then finish frosting. This will give you a smoother look. |

Notes: This is always one of my most requested desserts. If I have oranges on hand I make the cake, cool, wrap in saran, then place each layer in a zip lock and freeze, then all you have to do is frost it.
I pipe frosting on after my smooth coat, this is not only because it looks good, but I've learned piping can actually cover any flaws. Plus it's just fun!
