7 lbs. fresh green tomatoes
3 C. slack lime
3 pints vinegar
5 lb. sugar
1 t. cloves
1 t. allspice
1 t. celery seed
1 t. mace

Directions:
Directions:
Slice tomatoes. Dissolve lime in 2 gallons cold water. Soak cut tomatoes in lime-water for 24 hours. Drain. Soak in cold water for 4 hours, changing water every hour. Drain well. Put remaining ingredients in kettle, bring to a boil, and pour over tomatoes. Let stand overnight. Bring to a hard boil and let boil for 1 hour. Pack into jars. Cover with syrup. Seal.
