1/2 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup solid vegetable shortening
1 1/2 cups plus 2 tbsp. granulated sugar, divided
2 eggs
2 3/4 cups all purpose flour
2 tsp. cream of tarter
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
2 tsp. ground cinnamon (do not put cinnamon in dough, save for rolling)

1. In a large mixing bowl with an electric mixer, beat butter, shortening, 1 1/2 cups sugar and eggs until well mixed.
2. Blend in flour, cream of tarter, baking soda and salt.
3. Shape dough by rounded teaspoonfuls into balls.
4. Combine cinnamon and remaining 2 tablespoons sugar.
5. Roll balls in cinnamon-sugar mixture.
6. Place balls, 2 inches apart, on ungreased baking sheets.
7. Bake in a preheated 400º oven 8 to 10 minutes, or until set. (Bake full 10 minutes).
8. Remove from baking sheets; let cool on wire racks.
