1 unbaked pie shell, chilled.
1/2 cup dark chocolate chips or semi-sweet
2 cups pecans
3 large eggs
1 cup sugar
1 cup light corn syrup
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
pinch of salt
2 tablespoons whiskey-optional

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 425.
Spread chocolate chips over bottom of pie shell.
Sprinkle pecans over the top of the chocolate chips.
Whisk together eggs, sugar, corn syrup, vanilla, whiskey if desired and salt.
Pour over nuts.
Bake for 20 minutes.
Then, reduce temperature to 350 and bake 35 minutes more until pie is set but slightly wobbly in the center.
Let it cool completely before serving. I like to refrigerate mine before serving.
