1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. sugar
1 egg
1c. molasses
1Tbsp lemon juice
31/2 c. flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. ginger
2 tsp. baking powder
2 tsp. soda
1/3 c. boiling water
Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening and sugar. Beat in egg, add molasses and lemon juice. Blend well.
Mix dry ingredients and add to wet. Add boiling water. Mix well.

Drop by tablespoons onto parchment covered sheet pan. Bake for 8 - 10 min. at 350º
Makes 24 large cookies
