Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1 box vanilla wafers
3 large bananas
1 cup sugar
4 egg yolks (save whites for topping)
2 tablespoons flour
2 cups milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
8 oz whipped topping
Mom always used 1 cup regular milk and 1 cup evaporated milk. You can use just regular milk if you wish.

Directions:
Directions:
Mix together sugar, egg yolks, flour. Then add milk small amount at a time stirring constantly. Stir constantly over medium heat until it comes to a boil.
Remove from heat, add vanilla. Layer the bottom of a two quart oven proof dish. Slice bananas on top. Pour half of pudding over top. Repeat a second layer. If using egg whites for the topping, beat eggs whites with electric mixer until stiff. Add 1/2 cup sugar and continue to beat for about 30 seconds or until sugar is mixed well in the egg white. Spread egg whites on top of the pudding and bake 350 degrees until brown.
If you prefer to use a whipped topping instead of the egg whites throw out the egg whites and refrigerate the pudding one hour. When ready to serve add the whipped topping.

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
Moms grandchildren loved the banana pudding. She always made it with the egg white topping and served the banana pudding warm. I dedicate this recipe to mom and Dad's grandchildren Rene' Smith Revels, Tammy Revels Lawson, and Bryan Revels. Teresa Freeman Stump (who is now in Heaven) April Roland Walker, Tim Stewart,(In Heaven) and Michelle Pennington Walker. Mom and Dad loved to see these grandchildren come to their house. My sisters, our husbands and our children came to Mom & Dads every Sunday for lunch. There was always a good warm banana pudding.
