Ingredients:  
1 to 1 ˝ lbs. Green beans (fresh or canned, drained) – Kentucky Pole Beans or other garden variety green bean is fine. Canned beans should be “No Salt”)

1 ˝ T extra virgin olive oil
1 T onion, chopped fine
1 to 2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. sweet basil (dried is good; fresh is best)
1/3 cup water

Directions:
Directions:
Place olive oil, onion and garlic into a 1 ˝ - 2 quart pan; saute until clear. Put green beans on top and add salt and sweet basil. Stir until well blended. Add water. When cooking, place lid on pan and reduce heat to low. Simmer for 30 minutes until beans are tender.

These beans are a hit! We make them every year for Thanksgiving dinner. They are a great, lower-fat alternative to green bean casserole. If there are any leftovers, these disappear first.
