1 10 oz. can crushed tomatoes
1 can water
1 onion quartered (I use yellow or white with this, whatever I have on hand)
3 to 4 fresh jalapeņo peppers, depending on your spicy preference, sliced. *Be sure to wash your hands after cutting up jalapeņos*
2 rounded tbsp white vinegar
1/4 tsp sea salt
1 tsp minced onion
1 tsp minced garlic or garlic powder

Combine all ingredients in saucepan over medium high heat. Bring to a boil and simmer for about 30 minutes. Remove from heat and let sit for about 30 minutes. At this point I like to blend everything together so everything is chopped up into small pieces but this is just my preference. Cover and refrigerate until ready to use.

I make this instead of buying the jars of salsa because I can modify the recipe to my taste and adjust salt and spice content. You can add cilantro to the recipe too.
