1/2 lb. butter
1/4 tsp. salt - only if using unsalted butter
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1/2 cup regular sugar
2 cups flour
1/2 cup cornstarch

Directions:
Directions:
Soften butter, NOT melted or firm - mushy. Cream 2 sugars with butter. Sift cornstarch and flour (and salt if using unsalted butter). Add flour mixture to creamed mixture. Mold into bars; refrigerate until firm. Slice into 1/8 inch slices and place on ungreased baking sheet. Prick with fork. Bake 15-18 minutes at 325º.

My best friend Laura makes 12 or 15 batches of this shortbread at Christmastime to give away as gifts. Since I am usually in Florida at Christmas, I often don't get any. I have to make my own!
