4 eggs
6 tsp. melted lard (or shortening)
2 C. molasses
2 C. buttermilk
1 1/2 tsp. ginger
1 1/2 tsp salt
2 tsp. soda
2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. black pepper (very important)
Flour to handle,
and for rolling and handling

I think this recipe was given to me by a great donut maker, so that's why it's kind of incomplete. But matched with a regular donut recipe for comparison, it works.
