7 oz pkg dates, chopped
2 t soda
2 c boiling water
2 c sugar
1/2 c shortening
1 t salt
1 t vanilla
4 flour, sifted
2 eggs
1 c nuts

Directions:
Directions:
Mix dates, soda, and boiling water together. Let stand while mixing the following: cream together sugar, shortening, salt and vanilla. Add eggs. Alternately add the dates, mixture and flour and mix by hand. Great 5 small bread pans and add mix. Bake 350º for an hour.
