FIRST STEP:
7 Lbs. ½” ring Cukes, peeled, sliced round and cored
1 c. Lime
1 Gal. & 2 c. Water
SECOND STEP:
1 c. White Vinegar
1 tbsp. Alum
1 Bottle Red Food Coloring
THIRD STEP:
2 c. White Vinegar
2 c. Water
10 c. Sugar
8 sticks cinnamon
1 Large Bag Red Hot candies

FIRST STEP:
Soak for 24 hrs. in lime and water. Rinse (with water)well, then soak in ice water for 3 hours. Drain well.
SECOND STEP:
Pour Mix (vinegar, alum & red food coloring) over cucumbers with enough water to cover. Simmer 2 hours, then pour off and drain well.
THIRD STEP:
Bring vinegar, water, sugar, cinnamon sticks and red hots to a boil, pour over cucumbers and let stand 24 hours. Then pour off liquid and reboil it and pour over cucumbers (again).
DO THIS FOR 3 DAYS. On the 4th day, put cucumbers in jars and reheat the syrup and pour the hot syrup over them. * Put a small pinch of Alum in top of each jar before sealing. * Seal with caps and rings. DO NOT CAN – Water bath 3 min.
