Ingredients:
Ingredients:
2 C. Raw Peanuts (shelled Spanish)
1 C. White Sugar
1 C. White Corn Syrup
1 tbsp. Soda

Directions:
Directions:
Butter a baking sheet before you start and keep it handy. Mix peanuts, sugar and syrup together in a heavy sauce pan. Bring to a boil stirring constantly. Wipe down sides with a damp pastry brush and cook without stirring to the hard crack stage, 300º. Remove from heat immediately and quickly stir in soda. It's supposed to foam so don't worry. Pour mixture immediately onto buttered baking sheet. When cooled enough to touch, stretch to make as thin as possible. When cool, break into pieces. Store in airtight container.

Taken from the "Household", Dec. 1957; sent in by Mrs. G. A. Boardman, Lufkin, Texas.

Personal Notes:
A favorite recipe of Dorothy Ashley. This Christmas treat Dorothy made every year was eagerly awaited by friends, family, doctor, and former minister in Texas.
