Preheat oven to 350

3 large eggs
2/3 cup sugar
1 cup dark corn syrup
2 cups pecans
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
6 tablespoons melted & cooled butter
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons vanilla
1 teaspoon bourbon (if desired)
1 9" unbaked pie sheel

Beat eggs until foamy
Add remaining ingredients, except pecans & chocolate. Beat until well blended.
Stir nuts & chocolate in by hand.
Pour into pie shell.
Bake until set (approx. 45 t0 50 minutes) checking frequently near end of baking time to avoid scorching filling.
If crust is brown & filling is not set, place foil collar around edges.
Serve at room temperature with whipped cream (or ice cream)
