Deshler used to have a yearly summer Carnival. The Lions Club would have a chicken BBQ as a fund raiser during the carnival. They would build an enclosure about 40' long and 4' wide and 3' ft high out of cement blocks. Fill it with charcoal and put chickens to BBQ on metal grates over this "pit". This sauce was deemed the key to the chicken being so good. It was applied to the chickens while they were cooking by using 3 gallon pump up weed sprayers filled with this sauce. [This recipe is reduced from the original size. It does work, but is oily to use as a spray. --Gary]
