1 Chuck Roast (3-4 lb.)
8 oz. tomato sauce
1/3 C. flour
1/4 C. red wine (or water)
1/4 C. Water
2 Beef Bouillon Cubes (or 1 large)
Fresh Mushrooms if desired
3 Large Carrots peeled and chopped into large chunks
Chopped onion if desired
Salt and pepper to taste
1 bay leaf
Fresh or Dried thyme

Pre heat oven to 350. In a large cooking bag, sprinkle the flour. Add the tomato sauce, wine, water, bouillon and seasonings. Add the roast and vegetables. Turn and squish to make sure all is coated with the liquid. Tie up bag and place into a 13 x 9 pan. Make 2-3 slits in the top of the bag with a knife so steam can escape.
Cook for 2-2 1/2 hours until tender.

Be careful when opening bag. Use scissors, keep everything in the cooking pan and just cut away the bag.

Serve with mashed potatoes.

This recipe can be done in the crockpot eliminating the cooking bag. Brown the chuck roast first then add it and rest of ingredients to the crock pot and cook on low for 7-8 hours.
