1 3/4 all-purpose flour
3/4 tsp ground ginger (McCormick)
3/4 tsp ground cinnamon
1/3 tsp salt
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup shortening (Crisco)
1 egg
1/2 cup molasses
1/2 tsp baking soda
3/4 tsp warm water

Directions:
Directions:
Mix cream shortening, sugar, egg and warmed molasses. Dissolve baking soda in warm water and add to egg mixture. Beat until smooth; mix in flour, spices and salt until well blended. Cover & chill for 24 hours.

Preheat oven to 350º. Spray cookie sheet. Roll out dough to 1/4 thickness on a floured surface. Cut them out using cookie cutters and place 2 inches apart on cookie sheet.

Bake 10 - 12 minutes or until firm. Cool on wire rack

Decorate with favorite sprinkles and enjoy

Bethany has made these cookies with the twins every Christmas. They all have on aprons and make their own designs. There is flour all over the kitchen, but it has become part of our Christmas Tradition that I would not trade for anything.
