Ingredients:
Ingredients:
2 2/3 cups sugar
2/3 cup light corn syrup
1/2 cup water
3 egg whites
pinch salt
3/4 cup unsalted chopped nuts
8 to 10 maraschino cherries

Directions:
Directions:
Drain the cherries well & cut them into eighths.
Combine the sugar, corn syrup, and water in a 2-quart glass measure or other micro-wave oven safe bowl and cook on HI 13 to 16 minutes or until a micro-wave oven safe candy thermometer registers 260 (or until a small amount of the mixture forms a ball that's hard enough to hold its shape but still pliable when dropped into very cold water).
Meanwhile, beat the egg whites with the salt in a large bowl until they're stiff. Gradually pour the hot syrup into the whites, beating constantly until the mixture is very stiff, about 2 to 3 minutes.
Stir in the nuts and cherries. Drop by tablespoonfuls onto waxed paper. Let them cool completely. Store them in an airtight container in a cool place.
