1/2 c shortening
1 c brown sugar
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla
2 1 oz squares unsweetened chocolate, melted
1 2/3 c flour
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp soda
1/2 c sour milk, (canned, with 1 tsp lemon juice added)
1/2 c walnuts

Directions:
Directions:
Thoroughly cream shortening and sugar. Add egg, vanilla, and chocolate. Blend well. Add sifted dry ingredients alternately with milk. Add nuts. Drop from teaspoon 2 inches apart onto cookie sheet. Bake in 350 degree oven for 10 minutes. While warm, frost with chocolate frosting. Makes 2 1/2 dozen cookies.
