2 c. Sugar
3/4 c. Cocoa Powder
1 1/2 tsp. Baking Soda
1 1/2 tsp. Baking Powder
1 tsp. Salt
2 Eggs
1 c. Milk
1/2 c. Vegetable Oil
2 tsp. Vanilla
1 c. Water

Directions:
Combine dry ingredients in large mixer bowl. Add remaining ingredients except water; beat at medium speed for 2 minutes. Stir in water (batter will be very thin).

Pour into two greased and floured 9" or three 8" layer pans or one 13x9x2" pan.

Bake at 350º for 30-35 minutes for layers, 35-40 minutes for 13x9x2" pan, or until cake tester inserted in center comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes; remove from pans. Cool completely.

For years I called this my "Secret" Chocolate Cake recipe. It's originally a Hershey's recipe. The only difference is that I do not boil the water like they suggest.
