1 box elbow macaroni
1.5 lbs. lean ground beef
2 12 oz. cans of diced tomatoes
1 12 oz. can of tomato sauce
1 onion, diced
1 clove garlic, minced
1 tbsp. Italian seasoning
1 tbsp onion powder
1 tsp.salt
1 tbsp. pepper
1 tsp. sugar

Brown hamburger and drain. Combine all ingredients and bring to low boil. Set immediately to simmer for 20 minutes. Cook macaroni according to box directions. Drain and combine with tomato-meat mixture.

This recipe is very easy and my mother made this all the time. Leftovers (if there was any) were even better! My grandparents married late in life; meaning all our paternal cousins were 30 years older. We never got to see our grandfather Peter as he passed years before my parents married. My grandmother Mary lived to see my brother and I as babies. My father was away at sea when she passed and was unable to return for the services.
