Meat Sauce Ingredients: 1 large onion, chopped 4 garlic cloves, chopped finely 2 Tbs. butter 1 Lb. ground beef ¼ tomato paste ½ cup dry red wine 1/2 cup chicken stock 2 Tbs. chopped parsley ½ Tsp. sugar 1 Tsp. cinnamon salt and ground black pepper to taste
Cream Sauce Ingredients: 1/3 cup butter 1/2 cup flour 2.5 cups milk ½ cup cream ¼ Tsp. nutmeg Salt and ground black pepper to taste 1 egg, beaten slightly.

Directions:Prepare Pasta (For campout, prepare at home, keep refrigerated) 1. Prepare pasta in boiling, salted water, until it is al dente (about 7 min.). Drain and let cool. 2. In a small sauce pan, melt butter until golden brown and pour over pasta. Add ½ (1 cup) of the cheese and toss well. Let cool. Then add eggs and toss again. Set aside.
Prepare Meat Sauce: (For campout, prepare at home, keep refrigerated) 1. Over med-high heat, saute onions and garlic until onion is soft. 2. Increase heat and add ground beef, stirring frequently. Cook until meat is browned. 3. Add and stir in tomato paste, wine, stock, parsley, sugar, cinnamon, salt and pepper. 4. Cover, lower heat and cook for 4-5 minutes. Set aside.
Prepare Cream Sauce: (Prepare at campsite, while coals are heating) 1. In medium sauce pan, melt butter over medium heat. 2. Stir in flour and cook gently for 1-2 minutes until flour is browned slightly. 3. Add milk and stir continuously, make a "rue". 4. Add nutmeg, salt and pepper. Allow to cool. 5. Stir in beaten egg and the cream. Mix well. 6. Remove ½ cup of completed cream sauce to the meat mixture and stir well.
To Assemble and Bake: 1. On campout: butter or spray 12" Dutch Oven interior and preheat with approx. 18 coals on top and 9 underneath. (At home, butter a 9x13 baking dish.) 2. Line bottom of D.O. (or dish) with a layer of prepared pasta, making sure pasta covers bottom from side to side and is spread evenly 3. Top pasta with meat sauce, spreading evenly, creating a complete layer. 4. Pour cream sauce over meat sauce, again spreading evenly. 5. Coat the top throughout with the remaining cheese. 6. Bake for about 40 minutes at 350-degrees or until cheese is golden brown. Let stand 10 minutes before serving.
