Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1 cup whole wheat flour
1 cup all purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 tablespoon sugar
1 teaspoon salt
4 tablespoons cold butter, cut into small pieces
1 1/2 cups buttermilk

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 500 degrees.

Mix dry ingredients. Then, add butter and run through the mixture with your hands until incorporated. Mix in buttermilk. Batter should be tacky and sticky in texture.

Shape into 8 equal round pieces using floured hands and dusting balls with flour and shaking off excess. I do this on a flour filled plate. Place into an 8" or 9" round cake pan with rimmed sides. Bake at 500 degrees for 5 minutes, then reduce temperature to 450 degrees and cook another 10-15 minutes or until golden brown.

Personal Notes:
Can use regular milk instead of buttermilk, just may need to add a bit more flour. Or you can make your own buttermilk by adding one tablespoon white vinegar or lemon juice to one cup of milk (allow to sit for 10 minutes to culture).

You can also just make drop biscuits with the batter, by spooning equal drops onto a pan.
