2 C. Scalded milk (this recipe was used prior to pasteurized milk)
1/2 C. Shortening
1/4 C. lukewarm water
1 Tbsp salt
1 C. Sugar
1 C raisins( or not your choice)
2 beaten eggs
2 Tbsp yeast
1 C, Mashed potatoes
7 C. flour
1 C chopped nuts

Directions:
Add scalded milk while hot to shortening. Add salt, sugar, potatoes and eggs. Mix with electric mixer. Add yeast to water, add to first mixture. Add 3 cups flour; beat, gradually adding the remainder of the flour. Beat well(Do not knead) Add I cup raisins and 1 cup chopped nuts. Mix and place in refrigerator. let rise 2 to 3 hours. When doubled in bulk punch down and roll on floured board to 3/4 inch. Spread with melted butter. Sprinkle with cinnamon. Roll up as jelly roll. Cut 1 inch thick. Sprinkle with cinnamon and brown sugar. Place on greased cookie sheet. Rise 1 hour. Bake at 375 until lightly browned about 25 minutes.
