3 egg yolks
1 whole egg
1/2 C. of sugar
3 tablespoons of all-purpose flour.
2 cups of cold milk
Half a teaspoon of vanilla extract

Directions:
Directions:
In a heavy COLD pan mix all the ingredients together except the milk. After they are thoroughly mixed turn on the heat. This keeps the eggs from scrambling. Add milk while slowly stirring until all the milk is Incorporated into the mixture and it thickens. Pour into ramekins and refrigerate.

This is a base custard that can stand alone or be incorporated in many different recipes. This is a great base for banana pudding. All you have to do is add layers of vanilla wafers and bananas and put meringue on top and bake.
