1 can (19 oz.) garbanzo beans (half the liquid reserved)
1 clove garlic
4 tbsp. lemon juice
2 tbsp. tahini (sesame paste)
1 tsp. salt
pepper to taste
2 tbsp. olive oil

Directions:
Directions:
Chop garlic in blender. Add garbanzo beans with about half the juice, lemon juice, tahini and salt. Blend thoroughly until creamy.
Garnish with a few whole garbanzo beans, pimentos or olives. Serve with pita or toast points, chips or crackers.

Careful with the garlic; you can adjust to taste with less or more garlic.
You can supplement with a variety of spices or other items blended into the basic hummus. Try adding 1/2 cup fresh basil or spinach for a tasty green hummus!
