7 lbs. cucumbers, washed & sliced
use small to medium size
1 1/2 cups pickling lime
2 gallons of water

Directions:
Directions:
Put the cucumbers in a large non-aluminum pot and cover with the lime and water and soak for 12 hours. Drain and rinse well. Cover with clean water and let set 3 hours.
Drain the cucumbers.
Combine the following ingredients in a large saucepan and heat until hot.
SYRUP:
2 quarts vinegar
9 cups sugar
1 tsp. celery seed
1 T. whole allspice
1 tsp. mixed pickling spice
1 T. salt
Pour this syrup over the pickles and let set overnight.
In the morning, bring the pickles & syrup to a boil and simmer for 35 minutes. Put in sterilized jars and seal.
