3 cups sugar, 1 cup milk, 2/3 cup cocoa, 4 tbsp. butter, 3/4 cup peanut butter, 1/8 tsp vanilla, 3/4 cup chopped nuts-optional, 3/4 cup raisins or craisins or dried cherries- optional.

Combine and mix sugar and cocoa in med heavy sauce pan, add 1 cup milk, stir till blended, put on med heat and bring to boil. Boil till soft ball.(put tiny bit in sm dish cold water till soft ball forms, may have to check this often) Remove from heat. Add peanut butter, butter and vanilla, stir well till melted and blended. If using nuts and /or raisins, add now! Place pan into 2-3 inches cold water in sink, stir until stiff enough to pour out onto buttered plate without running flat. Need to almost fill plate but stay thick enough not to run.
