1/4 cup olive oil
1/2 cup finely chopped onion
1/3 cup crushed garlic
2 small cans tomato paste
2 T dried basil
2 T dried oregano
2 16 oz cans tomato sauce
2 16 oz cans crushed tomatoes
3 T sugar
1/2 cup fresh parmesan cheese
salt and pepper to taste

Directions:
Directions:
heat oil and add onions, garlic, salt, pepper, and tomato paste. Cook until onion is translucent. Add 4 cups water. Cover and heat 15 minutes.
Add basil, oregano, tomato sauce, crushed tomatoes and 1 to 2 cups more water. Cover and simmer 30 minutes.
Add sugar and cheese and simmer for another 1 to 2 hours uncovered. Yum!

I found this recipe in the newspaper and just love it.
Dei Fratelli is my favorite brand for the canned crushed tomatoes and sauce in this recipe.
