Mom's Brown Bread
11/2 cups of rolled oats
3 cups boiling water
1tbsp salt
1/4 cup of shortening

1 cup luke warm water
2 tsp sugar
2 pk yeast

1/2-2/3 cup molasses
4 cups flour

Directions:
Directions:
Combine salt, oatmeal, and water and stir
Let stand until luke warm.
Stir in 1/4 cup of shortening.

In another bowl:
Combine luke warm water and sugar.
Add yeast sprinkle but do not stir.
Leave that until it is light and bubbly.

Add first mixture to molasses and stir in yeast.

Add flour until it is stiff.
Put on board and work in enough flour so that it isn't sticky
Add 3-3 1/2 cups flour.
Knead for 8-10 min.

Put in pan let rise for 11/4hr ( until double size or more)
Push down and place in pans
Bake at 400 30-35 min for 4 loaves or 1 hour for 2 loaves
