1/4 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1 Tbsp. butter
1 Tbsp. yeast
1 egg
2 c. whole wheat flour
1/4 c. gluten (you can buy this at a health food store and it helps the rising to occur)
1/4 c. sunflower seeds
1/4 c. bran
1/4 c. oats (blended)/rye flour
1/4 c. wheat germ
sesame seeds

Mix 1/4 c. sugar, 1/2 tsp. salt and 1 Tbsp. butter in a bowl and pour 1/2 c. boiling water over. Let stand to cool.
In a small bowl, dissolve 1 tsp sugar in 1/2 cup lukewarm water. Sprinkle 1 Tbsp. of yeast over it and let stand 5-10 minutes. Add yeast to above and beat in 1 egg. Add 2 c. whole wheat flour one cup at a time, then add gluten, sunflower seeds, bran, oats or rye flour, and wheat germ. Dough will be sticky. Let rise until it doubles in size. Work with floured hands and shape buns, then sprinkle with sesame seeds. Put in greased pans and let rise until doubled. Bake in 400º F oven for 10-15 minutes.

This is an adapted version of the Best Ever Buns--in bread maker put wet ingredients, then dry, yeast on top and proceed.
