2 tbsp olive oil
1/2 cup chopped onion
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 large (28 oz) can crushed tomatoes
1 small (8 oz) can tomato sauce
1 small (6 oz) can tomato paste
1/2 cup water
1 tsp sugar
1 dried bay leaf
Oregano, basil, salt, and pepper to taste
1 pound ground lean beef or turkey
1/4 cup Italian seasoned bread crumbs
1 tbsp parsley
1 egg, beaten
1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 (16 ounce) package uncooked spaghetti noodles

Directions:

1. Heat the olive oil in a large saucepan over medium heat, and cook the onion until lightly brown. Mix in garlic, and cook 1 minute. Stir in all the cans of tomatoes, water, sugar, and bay leaf. Season with oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Bring to a boil, reduce heat to low, and simmer while preparing meatballs.

2. In a bowl, mix the ground meat, bread crumbs, parsley, eggs, and cheese. Season with salt and pepper. Roll into 1 inch balls, and drop into the sauce.

3. Cook meatballs in sauce for 40 minutes.

4. Serve the meatballs and sauce over cooked spaghetti with parmesan cheese.
