1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. baking soda
2 tbsp. sour mild
1 tsp. salt
2 c. flour
2 c. finely chopped apples
1/2c. chopped nuts

Topping:
2 tbsp. melted butter
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tbsp. brown sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Heat over to 350º. Cream shortening, sugar and eggs. Add vanilla. Dissolve soda in sour milk. Add flour and salt alternately with milk. Add apples. Pour into well greased loaf pan. Mix topping ingredients together and place on loaf about 1/2 way through baking. Bake for 40 -60 minutes.

This recipe comes from Grandmother Stull. I loved this as a child. I have tried this recipe many times and I like it, however I have never been able to duplicate the taste of Grandmothers.
