2 cups flour
4 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1/2 cup shortening
2/3 cup milk

Directions:
Directions:
Sift together the flour, baking powder and salt. With a pasty blender or two knives, cut in the shortening quickly and lightly until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in the milk quickly with a fork, and mix just until the dough follows the fork, around the bowl. Turn out on a lightly floured board, handling gently, and knead quickly 8 or 10 times. Pat the dough to 1/2" thickness and cut with a 2" cutter, using a straight, not twisting, motion, Place on an ungreased baking sheet, setting them apart for crusty biscuits or close together, sides touching, for soft biscuits. Bake in a 450º oven for 12 to 15 minutes. Makes 18 biscuits.
