1 c. milk, scalded
2 squares (1 oz. each) chocolate
3 c. sugar
1 T. corn syrup
3 T. butter
1 t. vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Melt chocolate in scalded milk. Add sugar and corn syrup, stirring until sugar dissolves. Bring to boil. Cover and cook 3 minutes. Uncover and cook to soft ball stage (236*) stirring frequently. Remove from heat, add butter, cool to lukewarm without stirring. Add vanilla and beat vigorously by hand or with mixer until candy is thick and loses its gloss. Add nuts if desired and pour into buttered pan.
