Cherry Sauce
2 Tblsp. Butter
1/2 C. Sugar
Dash of Salt
1/2 C. Cherry Juice
1-1/2 C. Sour Pitted Cherries
1-1/2 C. Boiling Water

Dumplings
1 C. Sifted All-Purpose Flour
1-1/2 Tsp. Baking Powder
Dash of Salt
1/4 C. Sugar
2 Tblsp. Butter
1/2 Tsp. Vanilla
1/2 C. Milk

Directions:
Directions:
Sauce
Combine all ingredients in order given in heavy skillet or large saucepan.
Bring mixture to boil, reduce heat and simmer gently about 5 minutes.

Dumplings
Sift together flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar. Cut in butter in flour mixture until mixture is crumbly.
Add vanilla to milk. Add milk to flour mixture and stir only enough to moisten flour. Drop by spoonfuls into boiling sauce.
Cook uncovered 5 minutes. Cover and steam gently 15 minutes longer.
Serve dumplings warm with cherry sauce.
