1/2 c. sugar
1 T. cornstarch
1/4 t. salt
1 square (1 oz.) chocolate, cut up
1 c. milk
1 egg yolk, beaten
1 t. butter
1/2 t. vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Mix in saucepan, sugar, cornstarch and salt. Stir in gradually, chocolate and milk. Bring to a boil over direct heat, stirring constantly. Boil 1 minute. Remove from heat. Stir at least half of hot mixture into the beaten egg yolk. Blend into remaining mixture. Boil 1 minute more, remove from heat. Blend in butter and vanilla. Cool stirring occasionally. Fill cake roll.
