1/2 c. Butter
3/4 c. Packed dark brown sugar
1/3 c. Molasses
1 egg
2 tbl water
2-2/3 c. Flour
2 tsp ginger
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp each of cinnamon, nutmeg and allspice

Preheat oven to 350
In large bowl, cream butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in molasses, egg and water. Combine flour, ginger, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg and allspice; add to creamed mixture and mix well. Divide dough in half. Cover and refrigerate for 30 minutes.

On lightly floured surface, roll out each portion to 1/8 inch thick. Cut with floured cookie cutter. Place 2 inches apart.
Bake 8-10 minutes. Cool and decorate
