Squares: 1 c all-purp flour
1 c rolled oats
1 c brown sugar
1 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 c butter
2 eggs
1 c brown sugar
1/2 tsp almond extract
2 tbsp all-purp flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 c coconut
1 c well-drained maraschino cherries, halved or chopped
212 c pecans or walnuts chopped

Cherry Almond Icing:
3 tbsp soft butter
2 c icing sugar
2 tbsp maraschino cherry juice
1/4 tsp almond extract

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350. Mix 1 c flour, oats, 2 c brown sugar, soda and 1/4 tsp salt. Add butter and mix until crumbly, first with fork and then with fingers. Press mixture into bottom of greased 13x9x2 pan. Bake 10 min.

Beat eggs, stir in 1 c brown sugar and almond extract. Mix 2 tbsp flour, baking powder and 1/2 tsp salt and stir in. Add coconut and cherries and stir to blend. Pour over base and spread evenly. Sprinkle with pecans. Return pan to oven and bake 25 min or until lightly browned. Cool and ice.

Icing: Blend butter and sugar. Add cherry juice and almond extract.
