1 c. maple syrup
3 T. sugar
1 egg
1 T. shortening
1/2 c. milk
1 c. flour
2 t. baking powder
1/4 t. salt

Directions:
Directions:
Bring the maple syrup to a boil and pour into bottom of baking dish (8" square pan). Mix together, sugar, egg and shortening. Add milk and dry ingredients. Mix well. Put batter on top of syrup. Bake at 350* until done.

This seems to be one of my go to recipes for a quick dessert, because it can bake while eating dinner.
