1 cup sugar (white or brown)
1/2 cup shortening
2 cups flour
1 cup bananas, mashed (about 3)
2 eggs
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 cup nuts, whole or ground
1/2 tsp. salt

Directions:
Directions:
Sift dry ingredients into a bowl. Make a well; add softened shortening, eggs and bananas; beat. Add nuts, bake in a well greased 4x8 loaf pan for 1 hour at 350º.

Mrs. Staggs uses pecans and doubles all ingredients except the nuts (1 cup finely chopped) and salt (1/4 tsp) to make two loaves. She bakes her's at 325 degrees for 1 hour and 15 minutes.
