8 Qt pan of cut up pears
7 cups sugar

We had 2 similar recipes for this. Recipe #2 called for 4 cups of pears and 3 1/2 cups sugar, so I'm guessing it cuts the original in half. Instructions say to sprinkle lemon juice on the pears to keep them from turning. Combine sugar and pears, cover them with water and cook down till the sauce begins to thicken. Recipe #2 suggested it would take 2.5 hours. No directions are given, but recipe #1 says it makes 8 pint jars.

When Mema would say the name of these yummy biscuit-toppers, she would add an extra syllable, so I grew up thinking they were called, "Pair of Preserves!"
