1/3 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 3/4 c. flour
1 3/4 t. baking powder
1/2 c. milk
1 t. vanilla
apples
cinnamon sugar

Butterscotch sauce:
1 lb. brown sugar
1/4 c. butter
1/4 c. flour
2 c. hot water
2 t. vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs, mix well. Sift in dry ingredients alternately with milk and vanilla. Spoon into greased pan (9"x9"). Top the batter with thinly sliced or chopped apples. Sprinkle with cinnamon sugar mixture. Bake at 370* for about 20 minutes. Serve with butterscotch sauce.

Butterscotch sauce:
Mix all ingredients except for vanilla together. Cook till thickened. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla
