1 cup butter or margarine
1/2 cup shortening
3 cups sugar
5 eggs
3 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 cup milk
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 teaspoon lemon extract or almond extract

Directions:
Directions:
Have all ingredients at room temperature. Cream butter, sugar, Crisco until creamy. Add eggs one at a time. Beat until very smooth, could take up 15 minutes or more. It should be very creamy. Pour into 10" greased & floured tube pan.(may also use Baker's Joy) Drop pan about an inch a couple of times on a towel to loosen bubbles or cut through with a knife.
Bake at 325º 1- 1/2 hours or until done.

This is a very moist and smooth textured cake. Sometimes I put a teaspoon lemon Zest in mine.

Note: (Lemon zest is part of the yellow lemon rind finely grated)
