Filling:
1 package (8 oz.) cream cheese
1/3 c. sugar
1 egg
1 c. chocolate chips

Batter:
1 1/2 c. flour
1 c. sugar
1/4 c. cocoa
1 t. baking soda
1 c. water
1/3 c. oil
1 T. white vinegar
1 t. vanilla

Topping:
sugar
nuts, chopped (optional)

Filling:
Combine cream cheese, sugar and egg; mix well. Stir in chocolate chips. Set aside.
Batter:
Mix flour, sugar, cocoa and baking soda. Stir in water, oil, vinegar and vanilla. Beat. Fill muffin tin papers 1/2 full. Top each with heaping teaspoon of cheese mixture.
Topping:
Sprinkle with sugar and nuts if desired. Bake at 350* for 30 - 35 minutes. Cool 4 hours.
