5 lbs. beef sliced thin (sirloin tip roast with no fat)
1/2 c. liquid hickory smoke (1 bottle)
2 c. soy sauce (500 ml bottle) can be diluted 1 c. soy sauce to 1 c. water
8 oz. brown sugar
10 drops Tabasco sauce

It is much easier to slice the meat if it is slightly frozen. Marinate the meat in sauce for at least 30 minutes. Place the meat on a cookie sheet and cook in a low oven (275 ºF) for as long as it take to dry out. You can also use a dehydrator.

I got this recipe from my Uncle Steve because my boys and husband wanted beef jerky to take on their hikes. Most of the time the beef jerky was eaten before the hike started. Uncle Steve told me he only made it as a snack for their dog.
