1 quart white vinegar
3 quart water
1 cup canning salt

Dill
Alum
Cucumbers
garlic

Directions:
Directions:
Bring vinegar, water and canning salt to a boil. Put dill in bottom of jars, pack cucumbers in jar, place more dill on the top and add 1 tsp alum to each jar. Pour boiling brine over cucumbers leaving 1/4 inch headspace. Have lids and rings in hot water. Seal immediately.

Grandma would also add 3 or 4 cloves garlic to each jar.
